Course Description:
Leadership is expected for those elected or assigned to working in Crisis Management Centers or Emergency Operations Center – whether in the public or private sector. Crisis Team Leadership Development is a three-day course that teaches public and private sector leaders how to work in a team and make clear decisions under extreme conditions, and what problems develop in managing any crisis.
This workshop uses a powerful inter-active approach to helping leaders figuring out what’s important and what’s not when making a decision. Students will leave with clear, useful strategies and techniques for analyzing situations and making difficult decisions with limited time, information, and resources.
Audience
The audience for this course is senior management personnel responsible for crisis management including those responsible for working in a corporate Crisis Management Center or a governmental Emergency Operations Center as team members or team leaders.
This is an essential course for senior management responsible for leading their organization during a crisis and responsible for crisis management in their organization.
This workshop will use considerable amount of role playing, scenario development, team work and other group activities. All students are expected to participate. Upon successful completion of this course, attendees can be certified as crisis team members or leaders.
Course Outline:
Day 1: Issues in Crisis Leadership:
• Review of essentials crisis management • Environmental problems (risk, stress, time) • Team composition • Team structure
Day 2: Issues in Crisis Leadership:
• Team communication • Conflict • Limited resources • Communication • Crisis triage
Day 3: Issues in Crisis Leadership:
• Leadership and power • Morale and motivation • Recovery and restoration
Certification Exam (multiple choice and case study response)
Certification and Accreditation
Successful completion of Crisis Team Leadership Development results in earning the Certified Crisis Team Leader certification.
Successful completion is based on the following course elements:
• Multiple choice exam • Written response to case study questions • Evaluation by peers and instructor
Participants who achieve passing scores in only two of the three evaluation areas will be awarded the Certified Team Member certification.
