Supply Chain Risk Mitigation is an introductory class designed to ensure that all students have a complete understanding of the inter-dependant functions of supply chain management with an emphasis on operating in today’s global environment.
It highlights how traditional supply chain management decisions are made and the risks that companies are now facing regarding the potential disruption to the expected performance and the financial consequences if supply chain disruptions occur.
The class concludes by focusing on the primary ways to create mitigation strategies that can be applied to add resiliency to the operation without necessarily adding additional operating costs. Target Audience
Intended for individuals who are presently or have been recently engaged in supply chain functionality or who are in other functional areas but have an interest in gaining additional insights regarding the primary drivers for supply chain disruptions.
Delivery Structure
This interactive online self-study course runs over a 2 week timeframe. Students access the course instructional material at times convenient to their schedules but are required to actively participate in an online discussion focused on the topics covered each week and to complete the following activities:
• Listen to a voice over PowerPoint presentation (1 per week approximately 1 hour in length) • 60-100 pages of assigned reading • Participate in the online discussion – 2 questions each week • Write a 1000 word essay at the conclusion of week one • Complete an exam at the conclusion of week two
The instructor will provide each student a written critique of their discussion participation and essay.
